This book is filled with stories about John’s experiences living in share houses in Australia.
The stories are quite funny but as someone who hasn’t lived in a share house, I struggled to relate. There are also short anecdotes from John’s former housemates scattered throughout the book - but they’re placed almost at random on the pages and it made reading the book quite disjointed for me.
Overall, it was a nice, light read.

I read this while I was living in a share house in Sydney! There were moments I laughed out loud and others (too many!) when I cringed inside. I could relate to a considerable portion of this book and that is probably what made me lose interest in it after a point. It got a little repetitive.

Australian sharehouses of the 80s, bucketbongs, and crazies. All live within these pages. It is dark, sometimes grim, but it is also hilarious. This book is a must read for anyone who has ever had to share their living space with virtual strangers (and sometimes, even friends).

A ridiculously trashy but ultimately fun book about one guy's experiences living in shared housing in Australia back in the day. After reading some drearier titles this was exactly the sewer fluff my brain needed.

Can't really decide what to think. I'm definitely grateful now for the wonderfully normal roommates I have and I've had and completely shocked at what specimens you can encounter, especially in some parts of the world.
