Another semi-depressing story with complicated family issues & drama. I think I should just stock to the PLL & Lying Games series by Shepard. Those books live up to my expectations & keep me wanting to read.

Ok read. I have a hard time reading characters that can't seem to ask obvious questions. Conversations that needed to be had, were not and so the story line moved very slowly. Characters seemed to be muddling thru life. I also don't like story lines where characters quit one thing in life and go on to another so easily-difficult to believe.

I just couldn't get into this. Very choppy and lacks realistic dialogue. I didn't finish the book.

My Thoughts: Sara Shepard writes a compelling story that was hard to put down. I thought this book might dwell on the hazing but instead it focused on the family's relationships and interactions. Just when you thought you understood the Bates-McAllister family, a secret from the past was revealed compelling you to keep reading to see how it would impact them. The nearly 20 page epilogue tied up loose ends and left the reader with a feeling of hope and possibly a sequel.
Sara Shepard is an author I will continue to read; I am going to add The Visibles to my reading list.
I'd like to thank the publisher for making a review copy available via NetGalley.

Hmm.
Borrowed this one from the library. I usually like Sara Shepard's books, but this one fell flat.
The story was decent, but the ending wrapped up way to quickly for how the rest of the story dragged out.
And parts of it really really seemed to jump around a bit, and make little sense.
I will continue with her books, but she's got a way to go if she wants to successfully target the audience she was going after in this particular novel.

I thought this book was interesting. I liked 3 out of the 4 narrators, and I just thought it was interesting overall.
