An interesting take on the post-apocalypse, with nicely detailed art. Loved the more southwest-flavored setting, with ranches and farms and a significant Mexican-inspired lean to the culture. I'm not entirely sure I buy the details of the world they've sketched out (how do they still have jeans and electric lights after a generations-long winter where they were burning books to keep warm?), but I'm willing to go with it. There are also lurking horror elements, as there's an invading "demon" population that is attacking towns, and it's unclear whether this is going to head in a more horror direction or a more overtly sci-fi direction. This volume is mostly character introductions and ends on a cliffhanger where obviously crap is going to hit the fan for the characters we've met.
