Damn Nature, you scary! I throughly enjoyed this eco horror/police procedural mash up. It's a fairly terrifying premise, wrapped up in a serial killer story. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the Northgate Trilogy.

I’m still not sure about this. Savage. Definitely savage. You’re going to question going on that country walk next time.

I really didn’t love this. If you read the synopsis you read the book; the novella doesn’t elaborate on anything at all. This book is an absolute chore to read, if felt like the author needed to complete a word count. Run on sentences and stating the same thing three times in one paragraph made me bored. I almost DNF’D, and I probably should have.

Wow

This was amazingly written.

I am trying not to give too much away but at one part I felt physically sick. I dont think a book has ever had the effect on me before but this book definitely did. The author has unbelievable skill at creating vivid bloody and disturbing images. I am not going to be looking at a bunny rabbit the same again!

Off to buy the second book now!!

Holy smokes!  In roughly 12 hours, I finished this book!! Holy smokes!! I’m telling you, if you want a book that is short, fast and thrilling, pick this one up now!! To make the deal even sweeter, it’s a trilogy!! A serial killer and animals who  are not the ones to eat  meat, are now all on a killing spree in a small town!! I loved loved loved this book, loved how it was laid out, written and all just came together!!!

"And at times he wished he was blind for then he wouldn't have to bear witness to the monstrosities God had vomited upon His land and allowed to perform the cruelest of deeds upon others."

One could lightly compare this to an episode of "Criminal Minds", but ramp up the gore, the horror, and the blood fest by 1000 jewels and of course there are not a bunch of animals going around eating people. Definitely an investigation into all the mangled and gored bodies that keep showing up. Detective Jim needs to solve both cases, clearly some are murder and the others are death by animal. Why are the animals suddenly carnivorous and who is the murderer hiding in the midst of their community?

The first chapter had me captivated and yet disgusted because dang it, I love cows! To present them as flesh eaters was disturbing and creepy. Lets also talk about the big black stallion. The picture that continued to enter my mind was the demonic horse from "The Rite", every time he made an appearance gave me the shivers.

The inclusion of Jim's childhood atrocities and his mother being committed to the Northgate Psychiatric Hospital continues in the book two "The Ghosts of Northgate", which I am looking forward to reading.

This was bloody good!
