I still have problems with the portrayal of native peoples, and with the ends of wars, but I sobbed while reading this. All the discussions of God and the importance of prayer in dark times hit so hard. And the bell... and the snakes.... owch my heart

Giving this volume 4 stars because, even though this arc was among my least favorites ever, I have to appreciate the art,and the care for the details that was put in the sceneries.

Having said that, I'm glad that it's over and that we're on our way for Water 7 lol

What a great, emotional end to the Skypiea Saga! After learning more about Kalgara and Noland last volume, Luffy ringing the bell took on such an important role. I loved how it was a sign to Cricket that his ancestor wasn't a liar and that he could be at peace now that the bell was in the sky. The golden bell also signifies peace and unity on Skypiea and it was such a hopeful symbol for the people.  There is also an important moment for Robin who's able to read the Sky Island's Poneglyph and discovers something that gives her hope for her future. Mixed in with these heartwarming scenes are the usual Strawhat shenanigans 😂 I loved how they were trying to steal the treasure even though the Skypieans were planning on reimbursing them as a thanks for saving their country!

Even though it's sad saying Goodbye to the Sky Island and their new friends, the next adventure awaits once they're back in the Blue Sea. The crew arrives at Long Ring Island, a mysterious place where everything is elongated, including the animals! A strange man named Foxy challenges them to a game and I loved how easily he got depressed by Luffy not knowing who he is 😂
