LOVED IT!!! 1-click surprise. I hadn’t heard of it and briefly read the synopsis before I clicked. It was fantastic. I listened to the audiobook and the narration was perfect. There are actually 3 narrators. Which is unique. Andi Arndt never disappoints and Jason Carpenter is the perfect Roman. If you love a protective Alpha Male, then you’ll love Roman. There’s suspense, angst, humor, and sexy times in this one. This one is a 5 for me and I’m moving on to the next in this duet.

I was so excited to be getting another Aly Martinez book! I loved her On the Ropes series and I thoroughly enjoyed her Wrecked and Ruined series. I couldn't wait to get my hands on her next work.
So this book starts off with a divorce among the MCs and...I didn't like that. I felt like I was supposed to feel something for them but I didn't because I didn't know them, so I couldn't connect.
Then it jumps ahead...
We get a house flipper in Elisabeth and a millionaire in Roman. They both are still in love with one another but circumstances that are revealed, split them up.
While I find their reasoning behind their separation heart-wrenching, again, I couldn't connect because of the lack of buildup of their relationship. Once we get the full story on them, they become a little unbelievable. I get that falling in love in a day happens but...I didn't buy it. Call me a pessimist but sorry...I didn't.
It wasn't all bad though!!!!
I loved Roman's intensity and the love he had for Elisabeth no matter how unbelievable the origins
were. I also liked the suspense and mystery in this book. I was seriously at the edge of my seat..I didn't know what the expect but it wasn't that!!!!!
OHHH MYYYYY GOSHHHH!!!
I need the next one like I need air! Clare needs her HEA and I can't wait.

Love second chance reads
This is definitely a second chance read...love the different POVs storytelling. Fell for each character...bold, brave, and nail-bitingly great. Yes!

This was way different than I expected it to be. Very Enjoyable, I read it in 1 day, ended in a cliffhanger so I'm onto the next book. This reminded me of a really juicy lifetime movie! I can't wait to see what happens next!

This was a pretty interesting story. I liked the drama aspect of it, but the characters made me dislike it a little bit. The main couple was really annoying to me, especially the male love interest. He acts very much like an alpha male and is very arrogant, which I guess was supposed to be all fun and banter, but meh, I thought it was a bit much and personally I'm really over those type of guys in romance. That's why I ended up giving it three stars. It was a cool story, but the characters weren't really my thing.

I’m not going to give any details about this story. No names, no nothing. Because this story is best to be read after reading the blurb. It’s a fantastically invigorating second-chance romance between a couple that has experienced extreme loss. It’s palpable in every aspect of it, from the love to the pain to the hope between them. RETRIEVAL is inspiring, pain-inducing, beautiful, and filled with such hope. Hope for so many things.
Mind you, I haven’t read every Aly Martinez book (yet), but this is the best story she’s written. I was so moved by this story that I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t start another book, I couldn’t stop THINKING about this story. The two entwined stories were masterfully woven together, written by a skilled writer, and ingeniously handled. I ate this story up, I couldn’t believe where this story was taking me and how much I needed to read faster to get it all in. My heart hurt, my stomach was clenched, my heart was breaking, and I was so scared to keep reading for fear of what was to come, but I HAD to keep going. I had to know.
You won’t see this story coming for you. And once it starts slowly clicking in, you’ll not be able to stop. RETRIEVAL is everything. It truly is. I am so desperate for the next half of the story, to see where these two couples go, to see love win. Every character will tear at you and grow on you, and I loved them all. They could be your neighbor or your friend or even you. They are just painfully substantive characters. Man, it’s just a “HOLY SHIT” kind of book, and it’s far from over.
