this is how one pictures the angel of history. his face is turned toward the past. where we perceive a chain of events, he sees one single catastrophe which keeps piling wreckage and hurls it in front of his feet.

Niesamowite jest dla mnie to, że tak książki były wydawane w latach 30. i wciąż są całkowicie aktualne. Lesbijski angst, transpłciowa kobiecość i pragnienie istnienia w tym doświadczeniu.

I found parts of this book difficult to follow as they were heavily-laden with over-metaphorised advice for the characters, however it was otherwise what you would expect from a text of its period.

I suggest that future printings of this book be given the subtitle "I am a bourgeoisie, and I am in a cafe, and I am sad (because of love)."

At least, if I got nothing else from this book (which is the case), I now know where Ultra Dolphins got the song title "Matthew O'Connor"

A dark, strange, and somewhat difficult book to read.
