Okay, so normally I’m not the biggest fan of romances with older men. However the way this one was done was perfect for what I like. The age difference was mentioned once or twice, but it wasn’t really a huge part of the attraction itself or anything, and that’s how I like it. I have enjoyed this whole series, and I feel like this one might be one of my favorites. Although as I mentioned, I’ve enjoyed them all!

I loved both characters and felt that the way they did things or possibly kept things from each other made sense. It wasn’t done in a way that seemed like so often in romance books, drama for drama sake. It was realistic. I mean you had your grumpy guy, and his behavior fit that. And you had your heroine who was goal oriented and wasn’t going to let a man keep her from her goals.

The story started perfectly and the whole relationship developed in a way that made sense. No insta-love, even if there was insta-lust and a definite connection right away. And as with all the books in this series, as well as the other series I’ve read by this author, the supporting characters and the world we were in was so much fun and kept the story moving. And oh my gosh, I love Miller, and can’t wait for him to get his book. Not to mention I think maybe we will, hopefully, fingers crossed, get a book for Greer, the goalie? I mean, doesn’t he deserve one too after the time we’ve spent with him? Man do I love a series that can keep going because you’ve got a whole hockey team worth of guys to get hooked up into their own HEAs.

Main Character Thoughts

Emilia
★★★★★
I am a sucker for the hard working red heads and Emilia did not disappoint. From our first interaction with Emilia I knew I would love her and I absolutely did. She is super easy to enjoy but also gave us some sass and backbone that made us want to root for her happy ending. I loved how she ultimately choose her job and what she felt was best for her and never let Smith have anything too easy. She made Smith work for her affections as she should.

Smith
★★★★★
Smith was the oldie but the goodie we all needed. Seriously Smith had my heart from the start. I loved that he had the hockey element because HOT, also he can cook, also he gives praise, also he loves to please, he is just the whole damn package. Smith is so sweet and he really does care for Emilia. I mean that ending... COULD NOT BE BETTER. Seriously I won't spoil so just go read the book to see how amazing Smith is.

Teagan does it again! This time, we get an age gap, forbidden love/workplace, one night stand sport romance

Owen Smith is the old man of the team who throughout his career, has made hockey is life, his focus, his everything. Emilia is new in town and accepted a new position with the Comets after she found out that boyfriend was not only cheating on her with the neighbor, but fathered a child with said neighbor. Owen and Emilia's story start with them meeting at bar. They flirt a little bit and Smith ends up taken Emilia home with end result of having a one night stand but both feel it as more. One minor detail they did not know at the time is that Owen plays for the Comets and Emili's new job is working with the Comets. This puts them both not pursuing anything more....for TWO YEARS. WHY...well no fraternizing with the players. For two years they are able to keep feelings at bay, but two years is along time and they are both at their breaking point wanting to give in to what they both want.

We get the details of the steamy night and then brought to present time where they have the avoidance, the hiding the feelings, the tension. With Smith being older, he is at the point in his life where retirement may be approaching, unsure what life holds for him outside of hockey and we have Emilia who is just starting out her career and wants to do well and gain the promotion she know she deserves.

Smith was a smoke show and boy did he have a dirty mouth on him. The did have an age gap of 10 years but honestly, the only way you can tell was when it was actually mentioned. These two balanced each other out. I like how Teagan gave us Smith on one end who was at the end of his career and Emilia who was just starting. They balanced each other out. As always, we got the banter from the characters from the past book and MILLER!!! I cannot wait for his book. He had me LOL-ing every time he said something.

This series is just a feel-good, light hearted breath of fresh air!

This is the 4th installment in the Carolina Comets universe and I fly through them so quickly! This story follows Owen Smith, the oldest player on the team, and Emilia, the social media manager who wants to be the director of the social media for the team. The two of them have a steamy night before they realize who the other is and then have to pretend it never happened. Two years go by and they are able to basically avoid each other until she is assigned a task that directly correlates with him. Soon, their chemistry may be too much to fight.

I liked how this book happened at a comparable time with the novel One Timer. You got to fall in love Lowell and Hollis again as well. I also loved getting to know Miller a bit and seeing what his novel may entail. Overall these books are easy to fly through but still swoon worthy! Always a fun read with Carolina Comets.
