it was much better than the last one but still... it wasn't memorable or anything. Reading the next book because I'm curious about Jax.

I really enjoyed this one. One, because we got to see little Vinny (the young teenager Nico was trying to save in Worth the Fight) all grown up. And two, because Vinny was hard not to love...controlling, dominating fighter with his issues and all.

Liv and Vinny have history. Seven years ago, in high school, she was the brainiac girl who tutored Vinny in English. He always seemed to have a girl on his arm, but soon his attention turned to her. Liv loved Vinny's attention and thought they had something, but he walked away and broke her heart. So imagine her surprise when she discovers her assignment from the newspaper she's interning at is to interview a hot MMA star...Vince. They do a good job of reconnecting, but then Vince's past plays it hand and causes the two of them to fight for their relationship.

I loved Liv. There was just something about the bookworm, wallflower type getting the hot, alpha male everyone else wants that made me happy. She struggled with her feelings for Vinny, because she was so afraid she was going to get her heart broken again, but she threw caution to the wind because being with Vinny made her happy. And then you felt badly for her when she was put in the ugly position to write the story about the Senator that was going to hurt Vinny so badly. Her emotions, her turmoil leapt off the pages at you and made you want to put your arms around her and tell her it's going to to be ok.

Vinny was everything you'd want a hot, sexy, MMA fighting alpha male to be. He was dominant and could urke the hell out of you, but he had a sweet, protective side that made you want to be the one Vinny stood on guard for. But Vinny had his own set of issues. His drug addict mother continues to cause his life to be one step away from disaster, even when he's trying to keep himself on the straight and narrow. You feel for him and understand why he can't walk away from the only parent he's ever known, but there comes a point when you want him to do just that and think about himself and what he needs.

Vi Keeland is fast becoming one of those authors on my auto-buy list. She creates these wonderful characters that are so easy to connect with...even with all their issues. Couple that with engaging storylines and you find it very hard to put your e-reader down. If you haven't read one of her books before, definitely pick up WORTH THE CHANCE. It's worth your time to take a look.

So this was a really good story. It was one that I couldn't put down. It almost made a full 5 stars, but it just didn't blow my mind like I expect 5-star books to do.

So the first book in the series is about Nico and Elle, and I barely remembered it, which luckily wasn't necessary. But I did vaguely recall that Nico helped a young kid, in a bad situation, train to become a fighter. Well that young kid is Vince Stone (aka Vinny Stonetti), and this book takes place over a decade later. Nico is now retired and is Vinny's coach. An reporter comes around to interview Vinny, and unknowingly makes a snowball that will start rolling down the hill, at full speed, with nothing to stop it. That report is none other than Vinny's old high school tutor, who he had a fling, of sorts, with 7 years previously. Her name is Liv and she freaks out as soon as she realizes she knows the person she is supposed to do a story on. However, Vinny is relentless and soon they are ensnared in each others' lives. Vinny is still dealing with the demons his drug-addict of a mother brings into his life, and Liv is forced to rethink her dreams when her boss wants her to exploit secrets of Vinny's life. Vinny inevitably finds out what Liv is hiding from him and turmoil ensues from there.

I thought overall, the plot was really captivating and made me invested in Liv's and Vinny's lives. Vi Keeland did a great job writing about the chemistry and just the connection between the two characters.

My one real grievance is a small one. In fact it seems probably bigger in my head just because it was the same main grievance I had with the first book I read in the series. It felt like, most of the time, the action was coming at me really fast, one thing coming right after another. I would've liked to see more transitions maybe. There was little to no down time in this story. In all fairness though, I didn't mind it in this book as much I did the first one, so the issue at least got better.

Another thing this book did right, it made me excited for the next book. I saw it coming a mile away that Jax Knight would be the next hero in the series, and I'm really anticipating his story.
SpoilerJust in case I need the reminder, he is Vinny's half-brother, and neither knew the other existed until the end of this second novel. Their father, Senator Preston Knight, has a tryst with Vinny's mother while married to Jax mom, and buried the truth by scaring Vinny's mom from revealing it. However, the ending of this book left a bit to be told, as the Vinny just leaked the news to the media, and Jax is not shown supporting his father. So I'm sure we will see some tension there in the next novel.

It pains me to leave a two star review because it’s VI’s book! It was a decent story, but felt lacking and rushed. There’s no love lost for this amazing author. Seriously, Vi you’re amazing!!!

I really enjoyed this. Surprisingly, I actually liked it even more than Worth the Fight. Vinny was an awesome hero and I really liked Liv a lot. I also loved seeing Elle and Nico again.
Even though the main premise of the story was a second chance at love, it was definitely even more than that.
I am really excited to read more about Jax!

It's so sexist and weird. I was forcing myself to finish it, but I just can't. I hate it.

I am not usually one for second chance romance stories, but i like the way Vi Keeland did it. Their romance was everything. I did feel like the Senators part was a little much. But other than that it was a good book

I liked this one as much as the first. It was cool to catch up with Nico and Elle (OMGGGGGGGGG) and to see Vinny as a man. I really think he was noble in leaving Liv when they were they were younger. As he said, she wasn't ready for him. Swoooooon!
