I'm extremely emotionally attached to all of the main characters and am a little terrified to read the next two books, not gonna lie. I think the characterizations and descriptions are so well done... ugh. I love it.

Spoiler

I cried multiple times at Lan's death and how people mourned him afterward as well. Oof. Honestly stunning emotional writing in that sense.

This really does live up to the hype. It's tense while managing to take its time. It has a complex, rich world that feels completely lived in, populated by fully realized characters I was invested in the moment I started reading about them.
