I forced myself to finish this.. barely read the last couple chapter because i just didn’t like it at all.

I again found myself just getting more annoyed as i read this book. It was super fast paced like the other, which i usually love in books but i still had no connection to the characters and to be honest am not really rooting for them to be together. She forgave him so quickly for what happened at the end of the first and it severely disappointed me because i wanted the groveling, the arguments and everything else.

Also Thayer just annoyed me so much in this. Like he wouldn’t give her any space. always hovered over and though some things that he said or did seemed so sweet, a lot of it was just hicopter parent vibes. He was always all over and needed to always be around her and not give her any time and space (specifically the scene whenever she flew to Vegas for her best friends bachelorette party because he wanted to be close by incase she needed him?? YOU WERENT INVITED GO HOME). He kept saying that he wanted to take their relationship slow but he was the one that literally rushed everything: move in together, try for a baby, and get married. It was just way too much way to fast for my taste.

Also i got majorly annoyed at Salem. Yes i was glad when she first reconnected to Thayer that she made him realize how hurt he made her but she acted so childish about it and didn’t stick up for herself and stand her ground at all. Also just things she said and did.. she always complained and constantly needed reassurance on everything. she made big deals out of nothing and i just got irritated so easily with her.

the whole story felt so rushed and I honestly felt no connection to them. again i felt like a lot of what i read was the author telling me what happened instead of showing me. there was so much potential for the situations she was telling us about to be shown and really save the story and they just weren’t given to us. i wanted to see the situations happen (like when salem talked to caleb about wanting to keep seda).

this duet just felt very rushed and flat. we missed out on so much including the connection to the main characters. again i legit loved the side characters way more than the main characters.. if Caleb gets a book? IM THERE!

BEAUTIFUL

I will recommend this duet for the rest of my life. This story was so beautiful. Some of the trials Salem faced were so much like mine. I’m the leader of the black heart gang but hearing and relating so much to a story really gets to you. I love Salem and Thayer’s story so much.

-The Confidence of Wildflowers and The Resurrection of Wildflowers are the two books in the series. TW: death, cancer, SA, cheating
-Six years later Salem comes back to her small town because her mom’s cancer came back and this time more aggressive than before and she only has a few months to live. Salem is divorced from Caleb, and she has a five year old daughter that is Thayer’s. She was conceived on their last night together before he her away. Salem was scared and never told him. Caleb and Salem got back together, and he has raised Seda as his own. As Salem is taking care of her mother, she becomes close with Thayer again and tells him about Seda. They decide to give their relationship another shot. She needs a lot of support after her mother passes away. Thayer and Salem decide that they want to try for another baby. She goes on a trip for her friend, Lauren’s bachelorette party and Salem and Thayer get married. Caleb buys and moves into Salem’s mom’s house to be closer to Seda. They have a ceremony in front of their family and friends just a few months after finding out Salem is pregnant. This story was nothing like I expected it to be. This was a unique story. I loved the connection that Salem and Thayer had. There is very difficult topics that were talked about, and I think Micalea did them very well.
-Rating: 11/10 Spice: 2.5/5

I’m going to try not to bash this book too hard because it was written beautifully.
The first book was WAY better.
The second book honestly could of just been an epilogue like someone else said.
Taking out all of the times Thayer and Salem talk about their long lost love, could of easily reduced the book by 100 pages to make it short and sweet.
WE GET IT. YOU ARE IN LOVE. WE GET IT. YOU ARE MAKING LOVE.

Salem was the most cringe of this entire book. It was just a self loathing fest.

“There are all kinds of different loves in the world, but the kind I share with Thayer can’t be broken by time, or distance, or anything else. We could be on separate continents, and it would still exist in this form.”

This book was a great conclusion to Thayer and Salem’s story ! I didn’t find myself as invested and glued to the pages as the first book but it was a heartwarming to see their lives finally come together in the sweetest way.

Thayer is still the sweetest hunk alive and I’m so glad I got to read these books!!

Salem and Thayer have both grown so much over time and seeing them try to navigate love and life together was beautiful. They both dealt with loss and struggles but came out on the other side stronger.

If you’ve read the first book just know you will get closure from all of those unanswered questions in book one!
