Enemies to lovers , romantic suspense but please check trigger warning for this book as it does touch on some dark topics.
This was my first Catherine cowles book it I enjoyed it so much I have gone straight in to book 2 of the series.
Everly and Hayes have a past, when Everly return back to her childhood home she runs straight into Hayes who is now the town sheriff and not willing to forgive the sins of her father.
As there relationship develops Hayes is also having to deal with an number of suspicious activities in the small town , could they be connected to Everlys return.
Really enjoyed the book and characters and cannot wait to go straight into the second book

This was a great book! I wanted the romance aspect to develop a tiny bit more—the twist was good. Overall I enjoyed it.

Everly is back in her hometown after she left years ago following a tragedy caused by her family. When Hayes finds out Everly is back he’s not happy and he blames her for the sins her father created. After figuring out he was wrong he offers Everly help with getting her animal sanctuary together and wants to protect her when someone almost abducts her. The more time they spend together the more they can’t deny the connection they. But Everly is scared and she doesn’t know if she gets to keep this good thing in her life.
This was so good. I enjoyed both characters and the progression of their relationship. I love how Everly wasn’t help accountable for the things her father did and that the family is about to accept her with open arms and help her feel a sense of belonging. The romance was sweet and I like Hayes. He was a protective sherif who just wanted to give Everly everything he could. The suspense was good and I was shocked at the ending!
I’m really excited to learn about the rest of these characters in their books and continue on with this series. The author has a way of making these romantic suspense unable to put down and immediately need to jump into the next story.
