“It’s easier to be strong when you’re doing it for someone else’s sake.”

This book definitely did not help with my reading slump.

I don’t know, it wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t necessarily good.

I liked the way all the different ways the paper girls deal with their trauma, it just feels so real and heartbreaking.

SPOILERS***

Did not like the relationship between Lei and Wren, I get why their relationship was so fractured, they weren’t in the palace anymore, they weren’t isolated and they had more than just each other. Their relationship started because they had nothing but each other in that place, but now with so many other people and so many secrets their relationship could obviously not work the same way as it did before. Also, hated the fact that Wren did NOTHING to stop Lova’s obvious advances, just hated the way their relationship crumbled so easily and I just saw Lei fighting and fighting for them while Wren did nothing, and by the time Wren actually wanted to do something about it it was just too late, at least for now.

The plot was nice. I liked the way the Hanos were just as cruel as the King, Wren is clearly not a good person, and Lei is so obstinate to do the right thing, I really don’t get how Wren is killing people and the image of her isn’t completely broken in Lei’s head, I do get it’s fractured, but Idk, my gf killing innocents for the sake of war would be a deal breaker to me.

this is so sad because i remember enjoying the first book in the series. unfortunately, this one just didn't do it for me. it dragged and nothing really happened except for maybe in the last 20ish pages. i probably won't continue on with the series.

i'm not even surprised cause I suspected this would happen... but once again an ending I hate

I need to know how it ends but I think imma take a few days to gather motivation in having to read that last book cause I know it would be a lot.

throughout both books I have had only one question and it still hasn’t been answered... are we every gonna find out.

The way that this book deals with trauma in the aftermath is absolutely beautiful! I loved every journey that was encountered in this book and looking forward to reading the final installment
