"Sutton Button" is adorable, and so is this book! Such a clever story for ALL families. Families can LOOK different a number of ways, so not only is it great for discussions about multi-racial families, but also for blended families or families with members who have physical disabilities. K. Wells does an amazing job writing this light-hearted dog-lover book that just happens to help readers think through the heavier topic of looking different. Excellent read with fun and relatable co-characters.

Book Review

Such a wonderful and heart-warming story. A definite book to read at the beginning of the school year (I’m already thinking of a lesson/activity to go with it) love the message of acceptance on both ends. A great book for children and adults to relate to when they are feeling that they don’t belong. Thank Kaitlyn Wells. And Sawyer Cloud for the beautiful illustrations.

This is one of my very favorite child ten’s books I have ever read, and I have read a ton! The author, Kaitlyn Wells, takes a cute, little puppy and explores the wrong assumptions about her and her family based strictly on looks. As a mom in a biracial family, it brought back memories of how people viewed MY family, with the confused, curious looks when I would meet my daughter’s teacher for the first time and would actually be asked, “Are you sure?” when I would introduce myself as my daughter’s mother. I would have LOVED to have had a book like this to read to my girls when they were growing up. I’m so happy that this book was written to help educate people that love, not looks, do indeed, make a family! I highly recommend this book. Great illustrations, and fantastic message for everybody! My granddaughter LOVES this book, as do I!!
