I love how big and seemingly careless the Van Deker boys are but so thoughtful, sweet and often, they feel things deeply and fall in love even deeper. You see them coming and you want to run in the other direction especially when they are so big but Magnus is so tiny. When I bread the first read the first book of the series I thought nothing could top that. Then I read Sem.
I love that he still has the Van Deker recklessness that seems ingrained into their DNA but he is gentle, thoughtful, vulnerable, creative and a complex character that you have to dig deeper to get to know him accurately. I love that he stands up for Magnus,I love that he pays attention to him( like down to his toiletries preference),the nickname

I liked it but it got kinda boring towards the middle just for them to break up again last minute and then everything felt rushed with the many time skips at the end

Loved everything about it.

Who would’ve thought a stalker could be so wonderful and endearing? Sem was just perfect, he was so unbelievable sweet to Maggie. I loved how protective and possessive he was of him.

Maggie was so funny, it was great to see that as much as he fought his attraction he just couldn’t stay away. The stalking and breaking in were done perfectly. They were done in a loving, entertaining way and not a gross toxic way.

Sem was just such a gentle giant, anyone would have a hard time not loving him. I hated how he had such low self esteem but they both were such great supporters of each other. They truly showed one another that they were perfect as they were. They were truly meant to be.

I cannot wait to continue with this series!

Having met Sem & Magnus in Whit I was really looking forward to them . Warning don’t start listening at 1am in the morning as you’ll laugh out loud and annoy your family 😆 The interaction between them both was hilarious at time and when Magnus had to face his family and Sem wouldn’t let him change who he was made my heart melt. I’m off to start Emery now .

I loved Sem and Magnus aka Maggie even more than Caleb and Whit.

Sem has been obsessed with Magnus since book one, but we only really saw them interact for a split second in Whit. Book 2 picks up with Sem just casually staking Magnus and showing up in his apartment. Magnus, annoyed and confused as to why this big redneck is in his literal living room, is low key intrigued by Sem too. But obviously he’s waiting on his dream man, Colin to notice him so there shouldn’t be an issue. Right?

WRONG. Y’all Sem dares Magnus to have sex with him and Magnus is just like “aight bet”. We start with a literal bang. Obviously Sem has only ever dated girls and is really confused by his attraction to Magnus, but is most definitely not willing to give him up. I thought Sem would be like an alphahole from how he’s described in book one. NOPE. He’s a shy, insecure giant of a man. God I love him. And he calls Magnus, Maggie <3

Magnus is confident in who he is and knows what he wants. But Sem throws a wrench in all his plans. I just love the role reversal. Magnus is short and not very athletic, but he’s really the fierce one when it comes to Sem. I mean Sem is a “touch him and die” golden retriever, but Magnus is just as fierce when it comes to taking up for Sem.

Love that Sem knocked Maggie’s asshole family down a couple of pegs. Adored that Maggie doesn’t try to “fix” Sem’s dyslexia. He reads to him instead <3

Once again, Sem and Caleb’s family are lovely and delightful and funny and just adopt Magnus into the family like they did Whit. They don’t give two shits about their kids being gay. They just want them healthy and happy. 10/10

I love this series. On to Emery and August!

CW: homophobic language (not by MCs), mentions of bullying by Maggie’s family
