The first chapter, in Davidson's head, is viserally uncomfortable. He's so awful, as he must be to represent a number people. The switches in POV were used really effectively to drive the plot, and also because you could see how one POV's actions would impact another, even if they did not. It's a short book, but there is so much packed in there. I felt such grief for the Earth, as well as Athshe. 
The final conversation between Selver and Lepennon gave me shivers.
"There is no use pretending, now, that we do not know how to kill one another."..."But you must not pretend to have reasons to kill one another." Says so much without saying it.

the way everything is woven together from different povs is so masterful. i also fucking hated captain davidson but he is supposed to be hated so that's okay. just took a few breaks while reading. ursula was really so far ahead of her time with this masterpiece

well i can't tell if I enjoyed this book per se but it did make me unlock a new emotion and is probably going to live in my mind rent free for a while
