I honestly got incredibly annoyed with the whole thing. Unrealistic, unethical behavior. Bullying. Obnoxious characters… how does Frieda always seem to write these characters that are so incredibly hard to like?!

From a tragic past to a now hopeful future, can Brooke move on or will something or someone make that difficult?

The Inmate is a thriller  suspense, semi-who-done-it that is fast paced and very enjoyable.  There is some back and forth in the book between present day and the past but this helps with the plot.

The characters were well written. However you do find yourself at times questioning the main characters logic and choices, but this actually aides in the reader questioning if their theories are correct or if they have been lead down a wrong path. Characters: 4/5

The atmosphere is mellow without any true tension. I did not fine myself feeling that sense of dread or worry that sometimes comes with a darker style book. However, I was not bored and was pleased with the over all settings within the story. Atmosphere/Setting: 3/5

The novel is fast paced and easily read within a day or two, depending on a persons schedule. The writer uses common vocabular whoch means the book would be an easy read for most. Writing: 4/5

A woman deals with a tragic past and the ramifications of what happened alone with deciphering if the memories she has from the incident are real or something she created. During this she sturggles with trusting those who are around her. Plot: 4/5

Overall the book was a delightful quick read. And I will pick up more novels by this author. Enjoyment: 4/5

Narrator/protagonist has the craziest case of Dumb Bitch Disease that I have read in a while. Lots of predictable twists but the last one got me. 3 stars but extra 0.5 star for the fact that I was so invested that I basically finished the book in one sitting.

It's ok.

The story suffers from some really silly choices by the protagonist and side characters, making it hard to put yourself in it. The twist at the end was visible a mile away and the explanation of it all seemed shoehorned in and a bit ridiculous. I was not a fan of McFadden's choice of writing this 30-something uear old registered nurse as havung the internal monologue style of a teen girl.

Despite all that, I can see how people could enjoy this. It includes the textbook thriller story beats that make a book "unputdownable" (the term McFadden's publicist tries to promote), but there are books with more heart on the market with which to spend your time.

THE BEST BOOK IVE READ ALL YEAR!!! Insane plot twists you wouldn’t see coming! Wow my new favorite thriller author!!! This is the type of book that makes me want to lower all my other book ratings by a star. This is the ultimate five star book!! I hope this book is made into a move one day!
