Narrator/protagonist has the craziest case of Dumb Bitch Disease that I have read in a while. Lots of predictable twists but the last one got me. 3 stars but extra 0.5 star for the fact that I was so invested that I basically finished the book in one sitting.

  • This was by far my favorite book from Freida out of the 4 I’ve read so far!!
  • There was so much suspense and mystery and I loved the past and present POVs where the details were revealed little by little.
  • This was one of those thrillers that I was so sure was going to be disappointing because the killer couldn’t have been more obvious but by the end I had to just sit there for 5 minutes trying to process what just happened because I was in SHOCK. I didn’t see any of that coming and it’s definitely one of my favorite twists!
  • Also, that last line???? It was another twist I wasn’t expecting and it’s definitely going to haunt me.
  • If you loved Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier, I’d highly recommend this because it reminded me of it with the way that the MC’s ex is the suspected killer and they both have pretty shocking endings. I can’t wait to read more by this author and I’m already trying to decide what’ll be my next read!!

okay so this is my 4th book that i’ve read by freida and i think this was the cheesiest by far. there were some parts that i kind of just guessed and was right but there was still a ton of mystery.

i felt like there was wayyy too much happening at the end like it was all plot and then at the end it throws a million things at you which i guess is okay.

it was really weird there’s one scene where brooke and shane are in the home and josh is coming home and he rings the doorbell??? at his own house?? kind of weird tbh. also i didn’t like how tim was lying a lot he made it seem like he didn’t know kelli at all when the police arrived which we know is a lie.

Brooke moves back to her home town after her parents’ death. They’ve left her their house and she needs to get away from Queens to stop her son from being bullied.

Unfortunately, the only job she’s able to get is at the prison with an inmate she put away ten years ago. Her high school boyfriend, Shane, tried to kill her and her testimony put him away.

I don’t have a lot to say about this without giving anything away. I love thrillers that keep you guessing until the very end and this one definitely does that.

it was pretty obvious when Tim went to jail and Shane was released like 3/4 through the book that there would be more to the story. I just wanted to yell at Brooke to trust her instincts!
