Felt like I was reading some adult version of I know What You Did Last Summer. Most of the book was mediocre, and the reveal was almost laughable, but the last chapter, the epilogue of what really happened after the reveal, gave me chills.
Only thing I canât figure out is whether Shane and Brooke are related. They share a father, so yeah, but then why are the characters treated as if they werenât half-siblings? Very confused!

I was expecting more of a psychological âtwistâ, this felt more like a LifeTime movie.Â
All Brooke would do is switch between believing Shane or Tim. I was tired of reading about Brooke saying âheâs a nice guyâ âheâs hotâ about her 2 love interests. Thank god for her 10yr old son Josh, he was the most interesting character even though we only got to read about his perspective at the very end, & learn the truth. What a smart mommas boy
The truth behind why Shaneâs mom was out to get Brooke was dumb AF. Killing innocent teenagers because the person youâre âinlove withâ wonât ditch his family for you..Â
There was no mention of Shaneâs father, âMargieâ Mrs.Nelson making the reasoning for this mess even more ridiculous. I almost want to give this book 2 1/2 stars but because I liked the Authors writing style & speed Iâll give it 3stars. The author did keep me intruiged the whole time even though the story is underwhelming and the main character was annoying & naĂŻveÂ

- This was by far my favorite book from Freida out of the 4 Iâve read so far!!
- There was so much suspense and mystery and I loved the past and present POVs where the details were revealed little by little.
- This was one of those thrillers that I was so sure was going to be disappointing because the killer couldnât have been more obvious but by the end I had to just sit there for 5 minutes trying to process what just happened because I was in SHOCK. I didnât see any of that coming and itâs definitely one of my favorite twists!
- Also, that last line???? It was another twist I wasnât expecting and itâs definitely going to haunt me.
- If you loved Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier, Iâd highly recommend this because it reminded me of it with the way that the MCâs ex is the suspected killer and they both have pretty shocking endings. I canât wait to read more by this author and Iâm already trying to decide whatâll be my next read!!

That being said I wasnât really a fan of any of the characters in this book, i found them unlikable and Brooke really didnât seem to trust her instincts at the most crucial times which had me frustrated.
Overall, a really enjoyable and fun read that I could totally see being made into a movie. Iâd recommend to anyone that loves a twisty thriller and doesnât mind slightly outlandish plots points!
