Me demoré aprox.

“A home isn't always the house we live in. It's also the people we choose to surround ourselves with.”

4 or 5 ☆ (??? I’ll have to think about this.) I read this mostly at the seaside!! When I got into this I really didn’t know what to expect! the discover was a pleasant surprise. This story felt so cozy and warm 🥹 sometimes even funny. I love very much stories that involve a found-family. I, too, like Arthur and Linus, care so much about those kids!!? And all of the island’s residents. I want to go on adventures with them!
This book has me wishing I could go and live on that island and in that house in the cerulean sea. Such a dreamy, magical place. This was my first time reading T.J. Klune and i enjoyed his writing style, looking forward to reading more of his work!

“Sometimes our prejudices color our thoughts when we least expect them to. If we can recognize that, and learn from it, we can become better people.”

Gush commencing in 3.. 2.. 1..
I haven't chanced upon a book that affected me so profoundly, and on so many levels, in a very long time. Linus Baker was a cog in business, reviewing foster homes for magical youths. He is like most of us, doing the same thing over and over, content with the results of his meticulous reports to management on his cases (even if he never actually saw the results). You see the truth on his desk even if he he himself missed it, his one allowed personal effect was a sunny beach mousepad proclaiming "Don't you wish you were here?" He did, very much! But that changed when "Extremely Upper Management" called him from his desk for a conference request he spend a month reviewing a super-secret level 4 home for 6 "problematic" children. Being who he is, he goes, and therein, as the saying goes, hangs the tale. You WILL at least tear up, probably more than once, I did!
