Book 17.. wow. I just love this series and it is still going strong. The Women of the Murder Club are like family now.

I know some people think of James Patterson as a “crank ‘em out, low quality”. But I do like the WMC series. And although I felt the homeless Murders story thread got short shrift - abruptly finished with no real explanation for the motive - the main story about a man claiming to have been tied up and raped at gunpoint by his female boss, was thought provoking. All in all, an enjoyable read in the series.

Meh.

I basically still read all of the new Women's Murder Club books just because I started the first one my freshman year in high school and really enjoyed it. And for the most part, I have really enjoyed them since. This one might have been an exception.

While it was still enjoyable in a sense and extremely quick paced with those short chapters, I wasn't as drawn in as in the past. Usually in these books all of the members of the club are hit upon in different ways and we hear more about each of them throughout the book. I feel like this 17th installment focused solely on Yuki and Lindsay. I wanted more of Clair and Cindy!

It also didn't flow quite as nicely or have the same level of intrigue and suspense as in past books. It was fairly predictable and straightforward and without the drama that the meetings of the club bring, I was left wanting a little more.

While I will still faithfully read every new Women's Murder Club book, I have stopped purchasing them as I feel like the last few have all been like this one; a little lackluster, a little forgettable.

wasn’t terrible but wasn’t my favorite, it was okay but overall kinda boring
Spoiler glad the girl didn’t get charged for a rape she didn’t commit, also glad they found the homeless killer, hopefully lindsay will beat the anemia, and jacobi is retired
Spoiler

Sadly the worst in the series by a mile. Painful and pointless, the story's mostly based in a court room with very little from Boxer throughout. Thoroughly disappointed.

Enjoyed getting back to Woman’s Murder Club Series. Fun, entertaining read.
Yuki’s case of woman raping man. Worried about her marriage with Brady. But he is working as a mole within his own organization.
Lindsay working homeless homicide serial killer. Suffering from dizzy spells.

This was a quick ok read. I really wish they would do more with Claire’s character and show the murder club group working together to solve crimes more.

Even though I said I was done with the series, I decided to give it another try since it appeared we might be back to focusing on the core group of women. But this book was so disappointing. Weak plots, terrible dialogue, flat characters. I guess I’m really done now.
