Oh my gosh. This was so cute!! I love sports romance, but really don't enjoy hockey, so this was super refreshing for me. I loved the main characters (even if I did experience second hand embarrassment, and want to yell at them sometimes), and really loved reading about the relationship that they did have. The family dynamics in this book are amazing, and I love how close the MMC is with all of his siblings. It just made the entire book that much better!

*SPOILERS*
I thought there was going to be a third act break up. It was almost a dnf, I was so upset about it. That being said - they didn't break up. I didn't love that they 'went on a break,' but there are worse things that could've happened. That is the only reason I wouldn't give this book 5 stars, because it was otherwise entirely flawless!

🏈 While transfering to McKee University for his senior year, quarterback James Callahan promises himself and his father that unlike last time, he will not get distracted by anything that can cost his NFL future. However, he cannot play if he doesn't retake and pass the writing class he failed at his last college. Beckett Wood is desperate to get away from her cheating ex-boyfriend who is not leaving her alone. When James asks Beckett to be his tutor, she agrees in exchange for one thing — for him to pretend to be her boyfriend.

🏈 The premise of this book is engaging, and I was immediately drawn to the idea of a fake dating sports romance. James and Bex quickly emerge as endearing characters, and their chemistry practically leaps off the page. However, the fake dating trope, which initially intrigued me, felt underdeveloped and unconvincing throughout the novel. The story might have benefited from a slower burn, which could have better complemented the central relationship. Unfortunately, as the narrative progressed, the characters' behavior began to feel inconsistent and increasingly frustrating, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the story.

A nice, easy and light-hearted story. Perfect quick summer read. Love the siblings too so thrilled it's a series with a book for each of them!

First Down was a cute, steamy sports romance that easily accomplished what it set out to do.

This book was cute, but it wasn’t stellar. I had some issues with a few character choices, and wish there had been more development on the side characters, but James and Bex were very cute together.

I will definitely keep the rest of the series in mind when I need another palette cleanse. 3 stars.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book and the chemistry between the couple at the beginning. But as the story continued and as the conclusion started coming together, I just.... didn't enjoy it as much. I don't know what it was, but something about the conclusion of this story was just off to me. I don't know exactly what was off about it, but I just didn't love it. I am willing to continue with this series to see how I feel about the second book, but I honestly just don't know if this author is going to be one I continue reading from.
