very informative and inquisitive book about the intellegence of birds. interesting is that bird intelligence is so varied that it almost mirrors taht of manmals by degrees. it goes into how intellegence is developed in birds in relation to habitats, and how homing pigeons navigate by using these large movements in atmosphere and such.

It took me 2 months to finish because it is so dense with facts and research. I was fascinated with every turn of the page and loved the neurological studies on bird brains and learning just how smart they are. I’d like to adopt a New Caledonian crow please. A must read for any bird lover of any kind.

I knew done species of birds showed signs of high intelligence and this book really dug into that. Fascinating stuff.

Really great book. At times I was a little annoyed at how fastidiously anthropomorphism was avoided. I think that instinct comes from a more Linnaean (read as: hierarchical) view of animals. Like hey, let’s just say birds are smart and can love etc without tiptoeing so hard lol

As a bird lover, I found a lot of this book incredibly interesting and learnt a lot about many different species. I wanted to love this book however I thought the summarising of the articles and investigations to be a little dull at times. I also felt that points were sometimes stretched a bit too far. That being said, it was incredibly informative.
