Blue Skinned Gods is an interesting exploration of the power of psychological manipulation, the desperation to believe when our belief is all we have left, the absolute devastation of realizing everything you thought was true isn’t. of the bonds between friends, the difficulty of being left behind by those you love, and the connections that bind us even when we want to be free

the first half of this book is so well written and the character development is strong. i think with 100 more pages, some of the deeper aspects of this book would have had room to breathe and it would have been an even more gorgeous book

I have such mixed feelings about this book. It was so moving and I felt so compelled by it but the ending was so abrupt. I wanted more resolution but I guess it is up to my imagination what happened to the main character after the events of the book.

Beautiful and simple to read, it felt like I was having a conversation with a friend who was telling me about thier childhood. I really appreciated the layout and how each person or layer was lost and how it shaped Kalki's understanding of the world. It was a lot more reflective than I had expected, frequently sprinkling in major philosophical questions between the storytelling. I found myself on this emotional roller coaster with Kalki. It would be interesting to hear some of Ayya's perspective, what his motivation were and how he convinced those alongside him to brainwash a child that way.

The storyline and premise are very interesting, but are let down but the oddly rushed pacing in the last third.
