Ever wonder what happens to the high school sweethearts who've only been with eachother, marry right out of college and go for their happily-ever-after before anyone else even meets Mr./Miss Right? Layla and Brett are the perfect couple. Everyone thinks so, especially Brett's family who love Layla like she's their own. But what happens if they start to second guess everything and everyone?

This book is a bittersweet story with a cast of characters I immediately fell in love with. I loved how the story was told from different points of view with each character having a different voice to the writing so I never forgot whose side I was listening to. I both laughed out loud and shed some tears over all the things that transpire. It was a total page turner because I just had to get to the end to find out if everyone was going to be all right. I could not have survived the ride without the author's fantastic sense of humor. This is what I look forward to in her books and she did not disappoint. She's also an amazing storyteller and I can't wait to read whatever she cooks up next.

It's a nice book...The characters are charming and I instantly fell in love with Layla and many other characters, but the beginning was a bit long, so it was hard for me to really get into. I won it through First Reads, and I probably would have borrowed it from the library, but I don't think it'd be worth a buy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It seemed to be a bit of a denser "chick lit" book, and though at first I had some trouble getting into the storyline, I really ended up liking it. The Foster family reminds me a lot of The Family Stone.

I found both Brett and Layla to be likable, though not always. Trish and Scott made me laugh, and I found the development of parental issues to be an interesting twist.

This was a stupid book! Very childish. I could write a more convincing book.

Easy read. Another one that makes me wish there was a separate category of ratings for chick books - this one would go slightly higher.

Writing not that bad. Story not overly predictable.

I found the heroine "too likeable" - author tried a bit to hard to paint her as perfect.

This was "just okay". It was funny and heartbreaking all at the same time, but it's not something I would read again.

This is not your average romance novel. It kind of starts with the demise of a relationship. It has funny moments but gets very serious. It explores various relationships within a family and what family really means. I found it painful to read about the inner turmoil one goes through when they see what they cherish most, their loved ones, start to fall apart. I was glad at how the story ended... with a lot of self evaluation and truth. But it wasn't pleasant to read it...

I am not sure I would suggest this to a friend b/c I picked it hoping for a lighthearted book with more laughs than tears... and there were typos.
