Thank you to netgalley for the arc.
For Her Consideration is a romcom set in Hollywood, between a plus size lesbian who works at a talent agency and an up and coming lesbian actress.
The beginning of this book was really slow, and I wasn’t sure I was going to end up enjoying it. But once the ball started rolling on the romance aspect, I was all aboard.
Nina Rice is a very interesting character. She’s plus size and confident in that, but she is just so unconfident in every other aspect of her life. She’s convinced she’s uncool, and toxic.
Ari Fox is the complete opposite, she’s younger, and confident in everything.
So their relationship has this push and pull, Nina for the first half of their relationship is one foot out the door, waiting for an excuse to run away because she’s scared.
My favourite part of the book was without a doubt the emphasis on Nina’s queer friend group. All of them were such amazing side characters, each unique from the others. The problem with a large supporting character cast is that sometimes they blend together, they aren’t distinct enough from each other. It couldn’t have been more opposite here. I loved how supportive they were of each other. Having a queer friend group (I would even say that it was almost queer chosen family) like that is the dream!
Lorna and Nina’s relationship was sweet, and Lorna was by far the best character, I was living for her sass!
The writing was good and kept me engaged, and I loved the ending. It was sweet and satisfying and tied everything up perfectly. 4/5 stars.

Dumped by her gaslighting ex 3 years ago (I’m not over it yet) Nina Rice has secluded herself in the suburbs of LA. Her dreams of becoming a tv writer buried and replaced with a job working for a talent agency, pretending to be celebrities via email.
Ghosting her old friends, working remotely from her aunt’s condo, Nina’s only social activity is weekly lunches at the retirement community. Until Ari Fox, Queer film darling, wants to get to know the woman who is writing her emails. Ari breaths life in to Nina’s lonely world, and after running in to one of her old friends, she begins to realize one persons opinion of her may not be worlds view.
Nina and Ari’s friendship and relationship is certainly a large arc in this story, but Nina’s relationship with herself is the real main plot to me. When her ex breaks up with her, providing a list of bullet points in all the ways she is toxic, a part of Nina shuts down. Her journey finding herself again, and trusting her relationships beautiful to watch.

For Her Consideration was a good read. I liked the fact that the main character was curvy. The friend group was wonderful. I wish Nina had a bit more self confidence and was able to talk to her friends about what happened with Taylor. I’m happy that Nina and Ari got back together in the end.

3.5 stars! This novel started out really strong and witty. I loved how the author built the characters and the banter between the main characters. However, it fizzled out for me midway through which stalled finishing the book. Other than a mistake between the couple, it didn’t really qualify for such a harsh break up.

Nina Rice has been dwelling on a previous relationship that ended badly for about 3 years, she has isolated and focused on her work, that changes, though, when she meets lesbian rising movie star Ari Fox and starts to fall for her.
I really liked this! The relationship between Nina and Ari felt well developed and they had a lot of chemistry. The plot wasn’t very important but it didn’t matter to me at all because Nina and Ari’s relationship was so well done.
The side characters were super entertaining and lovable and the little things like the cat and Lift driver Karl really tied it all up nicely together.
I do think that this book would have benefited of a higher stakes conflict, as I didn’t really get stressed about the relationship issues because they felt like not that big of a deal, really enjoyable book overall tho :)

Nina Rice is an absolutely relatable over-thinking, self-doubting 30 something who just wants to live a happy life… but life can be tricky!
She was a super sweet, vulnerable character and I could totally relate to her anxieties about her relationships with people. I loved the dynamics of her friend group and her love interest, Ari. They were all so fun and real!
It felt a little repetitive in parts but overall was a sweet, romantic, touching read. ♡
