It's hard for me to tell if this book was actually not that good, or if I just have high expectations for Sanderson books. But either way, it was meh. The concept was cool and the ending was (as always for Sanderson) fantastic, but the middle dragged for me. There was a lot of telling and not showing, and something about the world building just wasn't as innovative as I've come to expect. I'm also glad Sanderson has gotten better at writing women since this book because it was rough. I'm curious to see what the sequel will be like with how much better he has gotten since this book was written.
