At first, this wasn't my type of book. But, the more I kept reading it the more I liked it. The topics it brought up needed to be talked about more. Some of the things they were talking about, I've thought myself a few times. Like systematic racism, and skin color treated like a weapon. The plot was eh. There was a lot of stuff there that shouldn't have been. Like being on TV isn't realistic. Founded by slave "funders" like c'mon now. It brought up some good topics, but it wasn't realistic. It's like they were fighting money and privellge with money and privellge. The only reason they got justice was because he posted a tweet. When the supporters (idk what to call them) broke in it felt so random. Like no mention of a plan, no mention of anything. They just knew when to break in and kill everyone. No one is questioning why Terrell is going through Devons messages. I understand If he was his boyfriend and he wanted to know who he's talking to, but man thats your friend. This whole Aces operation was downright creepy.

irritating character, all except for the main felt in redeemable, and i skipped to the end to be met with an ending that was unsatisfactory and disappointing

I only give this a 4.5 because I kept getting kind of lost in the chapters, and how they were interacting. There was enough context for me to have an idea of what was going on, but I was always wondering if I was thinking the right thing. I had trouble enjoying the book at times because I was unsure if it was clear what was going on.

We live in a frightening world and this book clearly embodies that. This world is not safe for young, black women. And we know this but still perhaps it’s the thread of hope within us that prompts us to be startled when racism strikes. In the end I still can’t believe it, yet it was right before me the whole time. I saw it, yet I didn’t…

LOVED this book. The plot twists! It was lowkey triggering at some points but it was such a good book.
