Jane West is a young widow with two kids, young boys. Her husband cheated on her and her marriage was over when she was pregnant with her youngest. She works in the adult store owned by her mother-in-law Goldie and that is were the story starts. Jane is showing some vibrators to a customer when fireman Ty is calling for fire inspection of the store.

Jane is immediately drawn to the sexy firefighter, who happens to move into her street. Will he be the one that will bring her love life back?

But this is not just a love story! The boys have bought garden gnomes at a yard sale and the content of one of these gnomes attract some bad trouble to Jane.

Doing some sleuthing Jane gets into trouble(s) and Ty is not to happy about that.

It is a mystery with romantic and funny elements. I liked it a lot!

I really liked the blurb of this one, but it failed to grasp me. I did have a hard time with some of the stuff going. I've gotten used to first person POV, but this one just fell flat. A woman that works in a sex toy shop owned by her mother-in-law? There are so many ways that this could have been used in the story. It did, but not as prominently as I thought it would be. Also, there's Ty. He's a firefighter and that just plays in the background. He is so hot and cold with Jane that I couldn't connect with him. You couldn't get a feel for how he actually felt about Jane outside of turned on. Then there's this whole suspense plot. It was very odd. I've read books where there is a small suspense plot working through the book, but one of the characters had some investigative experience of some kind. This was just so weird. It could be that so much was happening out of view of Jane. Nothing clicked into place until the villainous reveal. So, overall, I was disappointed. I am actually surprised that I finished. I think I just kept waiting and then I was at the end.
