Usually I tend to like novellas that add a different perspective to the main story line. Glitter & Doom was okay, but really didn't add anything to the story for me. The first half, Glitter, is told thru April's point of view from when she gets abducted from the club. And Doom is told thru Kent's point of view picking up from April's and up to the explosion of/on the steamship. Learning more about them was good in it's own way, but the things I wanted to learn about April were not really discussed. For example, what she was thinking when she first met Araby on the roof and became her friend. It was a little interesting to see how things had developed between April and Kent, but it didn't make much difference to me in the overall picture.

This is a short novella that should be read between Masque of the Red Death and Dance of the Red Death. It explains what happened to April when she was kidnapped. It also gives a little of the backstory of Elliott, April, and Kent. It's worth the read and made me excited to read Dance of the Red Death.

This short story finally gives more personality to April and I'm glad, it made me like her a lot more.

I've said it before and I will probably say it again but these short stories and novellas can be quite hit or miss for me. They can add a lot to the world but they have to be able to stand on their own. "Shadow Cats" and "Shattered Mountain" by Rae Carson and "Leashing the Tempest" by Jenn Bennett are a few examples of novellas that work perfectly. I think they need to be held independent of the series since not all readers will purchase them but they should also fill in some blank spots or add to the world created by the author to reward series followers.

"Glitter and Doom" was a good novella but nothing amazing. I am very glad to have read it because I enjoyed "Masque of the Red Death" so much and I am eager to start the sequel "Dance of the Red Death". The writing is as excellent in the novella as it is in the first book. I really found myself enjoying the viewpoints of April and Kent. In fact, I am really rooting for Kent, I find I like him quite a lot. It was also a fun refresher for those of us who finished the first book quite awhile ago(like me!). That said, if you miss this one, you aren't missing anything important. There wasn't anything that made me think "Wow, I had to read that!". However, I am going to go jump into "Dance of the Red Death" right now, so I guess this novella did its job!

I didn't think that the novella added anything to the story. it was not written well and jumped all over the place.

Oh, great short story, we got a bit of Kent's backstory, and some important things for Dance, I think. And yeah, really enjoyed it!

Oh wow! This was so cute! I dont remember [b:Masque of the Red Death|12924275|Masque of the Red Death (Masque of the Red Death, #1)|Bethany Griffin|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1341716702s/12924275.jpg|15605716] too well. I read it quite a while ago (May 2012), and I havent read [b:Dance of the Red Death|13599291|Dance of the Red Death (Masque of the Red Death, #2)|Bethany Griffin|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1349811814s/13599291.jpg|19190626] yet. But I do somewhat recall Kent, and I dont think I had any idea that this was going on with him and April. They are a surprising couple, but so cute! And I loved April in this. I remember her character, but I dont really remember what I thought of her. She was awesome and strong in this.

This brings a great amount of closure as to the whereabouts of April in Masque of the Red Death. This is also gives us a a lovely amount of insight into the relationship of Kent and April. We get information into our favorite inventor's past. I adore this book and I wish i could have a hard cover copy of it to give out to friends.

I loved this novella! It was fantastic to get to know April and Kent and I loved getting to see what happened to them during Araby'a story. The excerpt of chapter one of Dance of the Red Death was also the perfect tease and has left me even more desperate to read it! I definitely recommend checking out this novella if you've read Masque of the Red Death and I hope you love it a much as I did! :D
