12 year old Annie is an orphan. After many years she has to face the fact that her parents aren’t coming back for her.

Annie decides to run away from the orphanage in hopes of finding her parents. She soon realises that the living on the streets isn’t a fairytale, but anywhere is better than the orphanage she has spent her whole life in.

I really like this book! It's based on the musical rather the musical being based on it. I like how we get more detail on how Annie spent her time when she ran away from the orphanage. You can easily tell where each song from the musical fits into the story which I like as well. I recommend this book- especially for those who are already fans of the musical.

This book was way better than the movies! I strongly suggest you read it as it teaches you to be optimistic in ways that you could have never imagined.

Actually this was a pretty decent telling of a story most are familiar with. It added a little depth and smoothed out some of the choppiness of the musical.
