Before she made it big in Hollywood, acting in movies like Twilight and Pitch Perfect, Anna Kendrick described herself as “unusually small, weird, and 10 percent defiant.” Scrappy Little Nobody is filled with autobiographical essays about her life and how she grew into the person she is today.

This felt honest and revealing, especially when read after Talking As Fast As I Can. It was also funny and real and just delightful. I loved it.

Rating these books is always a little weird. But I do have to say I enjoyed the realness and just overall fun I had listening to Anna Kendrick tell her story in her own words and voice.

This book was very insightful and highly entertaining. And I still hold the hope that I will get to meet her in person one day!!!

Anna is one of few talented actresses who could humorously convey her incredible life and come up without it being overly self-deprecating or braggadocious. She has done some cool things and it was actually inspiring to see someone follow their creative passions to such success without a roadmap to go by. I could see this potentially being a reference for future parents of theatre kids.

Definitely know what to expect if I ever encounter Ms. Kendrick. This is a fun quick read of an actor that still has plenty to give to Hollywood. Maybe book 2 will be in our future...

Starts off a bit slow, but gets better in later chapters. I found it an interesting, amusing read, if a bit rambly at times.

Disclaimer: I am not an impartial judge. I love Anna. I am convinced we would be besties in our introverted nerdy man-childness. Introverted? Anti-social? But not anti-social in the psychiatric issue, the version that says we can avoid human interaction as needed.
