The story was quite heart-warming even though I’m not as enthusiastic about Anne as lots of people are. She caught my heart as fast as Matthew’s in the first chapters but I found her growing annoying mid-book. She started improving again toward the end of the book. Matthew was my favorite. The chapter about the dress was just adorable. He really deserved the very best.

Now for the really good, L.M. Montgomery’s descriptions are an absolute wonder. The setting is dreamy. Prince Edward Island, Avonlea, Green Gables, the gardens, the fields even the paths are all enchanting and the description of the passing of seasons only amplified the beauty of it all. I really miss travelling.

I'm definitely going to read the second book before deciding if continuing this series is worth it.

What an absolute delight of a book! Read this for our book club classics pick. We all enjoyed how Anne sees the world.

I thought this book was just for girls or teenagers but I really enjoyed reading it at 25. The synopsis describes Anne as someone you can't help but love and that's a good way to put it. Some people might be annoyed by her never-ending spiels but they were done with the delight of a child and she was a ray of sunshine. There's also something about the olden days and life being so simple in the farm that pulls at my nostalgic strings.

This book captured my attention as an 8 year old girl. Almost ten years later it is still one of my most loved books. I have probably read it at least 50 times, and it never grows old!
