By far the best rendition of Pride and Prejudice I've read this year (I don't know how, but I have read three renditions accidentally 🤷🏾‍♀️).
I really loved the little nods to Joe Wright's cinematic masterpiece and the subtle changes in the plot that lean more into career development. The narrative was super smooth and witty.
Already casting the film mentally: Harry Shum Jr. (or a wider casting of Henry Golding) would be a perfect Mr. Darcy for this. Lucy Lu as an auntie. 😍
Throw Lewis Tan in there as Ray.

this was a fun, nostalgic, inclusive take on p&p. i enjoyed reading it, and im obsessed with jane and brendan becoming myspace official, bc that is exactly the kind of corny shit they’d do.

I really wanted to like this more but I found it so incredibly tedious and predictable. I really appreciated the themes and sentiment of the whole thing but the characters were honestly so boring. There was no drama or intrigue and this relied way too heavily on P&P instead of trying to create its own version of the narrative.

So I love Lizzie Bennet. This was not my favorite Lizzie (or Darcy) only because it was a little TOO much of a retelling. Still a fun idea.

This was a really faithful retelling and maybe would have benefited from a bit more reimagining. I loved the turn of the century setting, and it was a great glimpse into a particular culture of a particular time, but I wanted more chemistry I think— more obvious yearning

A mid 90's Chinatown retelling of Pride and Prejudice..... easy read, especially once you get a few chapters in!
