I am always on the hunt for P&P retellings that do something interesting with the story, especially those by diverse authors. This was a really interesting retelling set in post 9/11 2000s NYC Chinatown and dealt with gentrification and class issues, taking those of the original story and translating them well to this setting.
I really liked this version of Elizabeth (LB), her passion for her community was very refreshing; the rest of the sisters felt identical to their P&P selves, as did many of the other characters. I found this Darcy interesting, and I think we saw his journey to loving LB even through her own shocked eyes.
My greatest criticism is that I feel like we lost some of the gentrification plot in the second half, and I wanted to see more of it/see it resolved better.
