Having read 77 Shadow Street and found it pretty creepy, I expected big things from this novel. Unfortunately it didn't quite hit the mark for me.

I found the plot interesting although very reminiscent of something Stephen King would write. I couldnt help seeing similarities between this novel and King's The Insititute, although I'm aware this one was written first.

I also found the hype around this novel supposedly predicting coronavirus massively overhyped and a little ridiculous given the role it played in the novel.

Overall, this gets 3 stars from me.

Leí este libro por lo que decían en internet que habían encontrado en sus páginas acerca del virus y fue una decepción ya que solo aparece esta referencia en el último capítulo y de modo fugaz. No me gustó.

If a western imperial conspiracy theorist chose to write a sci-fi thriller, then this would be it. This book was a shit show in terms of mystery with lazy writing that just explains everything with otherworldly phenomenon and calls it a day. The writing was super cringe, and everyone was just a caricature of some boring repetitive trope or the other (Oh! The main villain is a rich nepo baby who is fascinated by death and loves killing? Get in line).  It was a super fast read because of how ridiculous it was, but yeah, I will not be picking up anything by the author for sure.

Definitely not the best of Dean Koontz's works, but still a page-turning quick thrill.

Über weite Teile langatmig und dann viel zu plötzlich vorbei. Soll wohl ein Mix aus verschiedenen Genres sein, aber keins davon funktioniert. Meh!
