This is the second in the Sweet Potato Queen series, and the third I've read. If I'd read this one first I wouldn't have gone farther. (I've previously read #3 and #1.) There are some giggles (and no recipes worth a second look), but mostly it seemed to be straining too hard to be funny. Or maybe I just wasn't in the mood.

Maybe not quite as funny as her first book, but then all sequels suffer from that. Still, there were times I laughed till cried.

I am really enjoying these books. Does anyone know if the recipes in this book are in the cookbook?

A very fun, breezy read. I kept laughing out loud and scaring my husband while I was reading it. I feel bad for the people who have had any contact with me recently, because I've probably found a way to work one of these stories into the conversation. Read it if you're in the mood for a good laugh, sort of at the expense of men. It's all in good fun though.

This only gets a lower rating then the first one because it took me slightly longer to get through some parts. These women are outrageous and I can't help but love them. For the most part the book as a whole has a very lighthearted way about it but it does have some pretty good lessons hidden in there. The ending of this book is really touching though, and the only part that truly gives you a sobering moment. If I can find any of the other Sweet Potato Queen books I'll definitely give them a go.
