3.5 a little sloppy in the writing but I really enjoyed the look at grief.

A lovely book about grief and loss, and the often self-destructive ways in which we cope with them. We Are Okay is quite touching and I would highly recommend it.

Here's the thing. You can totally have a book that's character driven, as opposed to plot driven. That doesn't mean you can just totally skip over the plot. I'm not sure what this book was about and I'm still unsure if I like these characters.

this book has such a specific mood and is so much about loneliness and grief that i felt like i did it a disservice not reading it in the dead of winter

Not at all what I'd expected, but more than I could've wished for. A small cast of characters, and not much plot, but it doesn't seem too short or boring. If anything, it makes it better.

I was having a hard time rating this one. The writing was excellent, the characters were very real, and the storyline was compelling enough that I kept turning pages. But this is not the kind of book I’d revisit. I’m glad to have read it, to have met the characters, but I will probably donate it rather than have it sitting on my shelf never to be read again.
