Banal platitudes missing any rhythm or poetics or new insights or playfulness with language to make them interesting.

I did not enjoy this. The poems felt repetitive and like recycled motivation posts online.
I was expecting something more refined and got a diary full of words all over the place.

Kind of a lacklustre collection, for me at least. Some were quite lovely but as a whole they felt a little generic and all over the place.

There are a handful of beautiful gems in here that are very touching, but as a collection it’s dislocated and at times contradictory, and (I’m sorry) a little boring. However, I can appreciate why this is appealing to so many younger people and hope it opens them to the world of poetry.

This poetry collection is not like a lot of the poetry currently being published which is a nice change of pace.
Unfortunately, I did find it to be repetitive; which is why my rating dropped.

For someone new to poetry, this collection is a great entry point. I’ve been reading and enjoying poetry for a while now, so I found a lot of the poems to be very surface level, more akin to poetry posted on Instagram than published poetry collections. That’s not to say it’s all bad, but this definitely isn’t particularly advanced.
