5.0

pierwsza moja pisania recenzja od dłuższego czasu :D
ostatnio oglądałem Rayę i Ostatniego Smoka, więc podążając za dalekowschodnimi klimatami postanowiłem skończyć dylogię "krew gwiazd"
i nie żałowałem tego!
naprawdę, rollercoaster emocji do ostatniej strony
5/5
jeżeli podobał wam się pierwszy tom, to ten spodoba wam się jeszcze bardziej!

3.5

Unravel the Dusk is the finale of the Spin the Dawn series, and I gave this book 3.5 stars – half a star more than its predecessor.

I really didn’t make many notes while reading this book. This may be because it’s over one and half year ago that I’ve read the first novel and I wasn’t hence too attached to the characters and the plot anymore. After the events of the first book, Maia is returning to the palace where the wedding of Sarnai was prepared. After a terrible accident, Maia has to flee and find a cure for her curse while also trying to save the whole kingdom.

There were many things about the book that I enjoyed: the dramatic plot, its pacing, the writing style, and the different settings. They were not perfect but still nice to read about. For example, some moments didn’t make so much sense, like the fact that
no one would notice that Maia pretends to be Sarnai or that the emperor would not kill her when he’s supposedly so cruel
. I was also not the biggest fan of the finale with
Maia suddenly being able to fly. It could’ve been just more epic, and the ending was too much a happy ending for my taste

I generally liked all the characters, especially Sarnai and Maia. It was interesting to see how much Maia changed because of being taken over by Baldur. It was kinda cliché though that Maia would lose her memories when he would completely take over her.

There were some references in Unravel the Dusk to Lim’s newest book, Six Crimson Cranes, and I wonder if both play in the same universe. If yes, I’m even more interested to read it since the world and its lore the author created was so great.

I liked this sequel, it was an enjoyable read. I'm sure I would have read it in just a few days if I had more time for me these last few days 😅

Still, I found this book to go both too fast and too slow. The important events were flown over, so it lacked a little depth. I also had a harder time feeling connected to Maia, the main character, despite everything she has to go through.
