I didn’t think I’d find an Ana book that I disliked more than King of Wrath, but sadly, I did. And I really am sad about it, because through the entire first half, I was having such a blast with this book. I thought it would end up a favorite alongside King of Pride. But Rhys’ possessive temper tantrums got really old really fast, and then I was decidedly not having a blast.

It also doesn’t help that, the more I think about it, the more I realize that Bridget and Rhys have absolutely nothing to base a relationship on. All they ever do is screw around. Ana’s other couples have foundations upon which their relationships are built, but these two are just lust. Their story is just smut. Like if you took the vibes of Princess Diaries 2, combined with the vibes of Red White and Royal Blue, but replaced 90% of the plots with (rather repetitive) smut.

And damn, is it disappointing.

Extra half star for the first half, though, because it was fun while it lasted. And the teasing glimpses of future couples have made the rest (nearly) worth it.

Current series ranking:
  1. Twisted Love (I’m shocked too)
  2. Twisted Games (I’m sad)

Representation:
  • Chinese-American side characters
  • fat side character
  • multiracial side character (Japanese, Black & Puerto Rican)

Much better than the first book to me. The beginning of the book was very intriguing because I liked the troupe of body guard falling for his client. After the book settled in though it became slow paced for a little bit in the middle of the book but eventually picked back up. I liked the conflict of the romance, but the resolution was predictable.

I wouldn't read this book if you are looking for good plot twists, while it has some they don't last very long for you to infer what might happen. Overall I liked that characters and their relationship and I didn't like slow pace in the beginning/middle parts.

I was trying to think of something to not like about this book. I very much enjoyed it.

I absolutely loved Rhys. I listened to the audiobook so I think that helped but that man is filthy in all the best ways and his care for Bridget is so beautiful. Bridget was a strong FMC but Rhys really stole the show. I wanted to know what he was thinking and planning and saying. The plot itself wasn’t bad or far-fetched. It made sense in the grand scheme of the book and was resolved nicely. This book isn’t literary genius but the plot was good, the characters lovable, and the smut so spicy.
