Favorite Quote: “What can you tell your heart to make it stop hurting?”~Robin

One of my favorite girlfriend’s novels and by the amazing Terry McMillan who always knows what Black women are thinking and what they want to read. You will fall in love, hate, joy, saddens and hopefully exhale with all these women by the end of this read.

I was so excited to read this and loved the premise, but it fell a little short of what I expected. For a while the story didn't feel like it was progressing and at times it felt a little fatphobic towards Gloria. The idea of black women living life with their breath held, waiting to be protected instead of having to be the protectors, really resonates with me. But it still felt like for a couple of the women, happiness only became possible after a man entered their lives.
