For those whom have learned America’s history whitewashed, this is an excruciatingly beneficial read. This is a straightforward (easily fact-checked) read, a chronological historical list of events up to and including Trump’s administration that have all contributed to current day’s poor political and socioeconomic climate.

Interesting distillation of white nationalism and it's prevalence throughout US history... and today.

A much more impressive book than, frankly, I expected. I guess I thought after her first book that this was gonna be sorta a "quickie" rehashing much of "Too Much and..." in light of her pathetic uncle's getting the boot out of the White House (and lying, lying, lying all along the way). But it's not. Instead Mary Trump skillfully connects America's racist past with its entrenched system of white privilege and how her piece of s**t uncle made it permissible for racist hatred and fear to come out in the open in America. Now, I consider myself pretty "liberal" or "progressive" (if by those terms you mean in favor of dismantling the system of racial and economic inequality that America has suffered under since its founding), but Mary is a few steps further along than I would go. Still, she does an excellent job in diagnosing the disease even if I disagree by a few minor degrees with her cure. Well worth reading, and (though I didn't think I would be saying this before I read "The Reckoning") I look forward to reading future works by her.
