This was my first time reading something by R.E. Johnson, and I honestly thought it was a good book! “Burn the Bone” had two POVs (Dimitri and Red), both of which I enjoyed. The book was very intense, but that just means I was invested in both the plot and the characters. Dimitri was an interesting character because he had a lot of layers, and I enjoyed his interactions with his friends and with Red. As for Red, I thought she was an incredibly complex character, and I enjoyed learning more about het abilities and her backstory. I’d definitely recommend!!!

As usual with these kinds of books, check your trigger warnings. R.E. Johnson does a great job of being very upfront about what lies ahead in her books so you never have to worry about what you’re getting into, but these books aren’t for the faint of heart.

Now, with that out of the way, if you were a fan of the first book in this series, you will absolutely love this one just as much. I could not wait for more of Red and Dimitri and was not disappointed. This was everything I was waiting for and more. It was dark, gritty, a whirlwind of emotions, sexy as hell and had me in a chokehold by the end not wanting to put the book down.

RE is such a fantastic writer that has a way of fully immersing you in her worlds.
