I'm so disappointed. Even though, with Agatha Christie's novels my major qualm always ends up being the slow pacing in the middle 40-60%, the grand reveal/speech/explanation at the end makes it all worth it and keeps me excited to get to that last bit, part to know who did it and part to just be graciously awed bc I SUCK at guessing the murderer right.
But with The Sittaford Mystery, the murderer and the why of it really just ended up being so anticlimactic that I was left annoyed by it, all my efforts of getting through this and the excitement of a mystery being paid dust. And there's another thing, which I wouldn't care about otherwise if not for AG giving it plenty attention in the last chapter, was Emily choosing the loser Jim at the end instead of the capable, more compatible guy she matched well with..
Tl;dr: I enjoyed being on my toes, suspecting every character and their possible involvement in the murder of the Cap but it didn't work for me well in much more aspects than I'd like to admit, much to the breaking of my mysteryloving heart

“nobody understands the art of living nowadays... catching trains, making appointments, fixing times for everything—all nonsense. get up with the sun i say, have your meals when you feel like it, and never tie yourself to a time or a date. i could teach people how to live if they would listen to me.”

pretty fun and entertaining mystery that kept me guessing til the end (just like the one other agatha christie novel i've read, and then there were none, although 'sittaford' wasn't nearly as thrilling)
