This is definitely the best fantasy book that I've read in years. It definitely gets 5 out of 5 stars from me on Goodreads, and a score of 10 out of 10 on my own personal scoring system. :)

3.5 / 5 -- Was hard to get into, not sure if due to slowness or if I just wasn't feeling epic fantasy at that time. I put it aside but when I picked it up again I enjoyed the rest of the book. But some POVs, namely
Spoiler(Simon's/Miriamele's and Pasevalles')
, were definitely not as interesting and thus not as enjoyable as others. This also influenced the flow of the book. Loved Nezeru and Tzoja though. Getting to learn about the Norns' civilization might just be my favourite thing about this book. Finally I also love where Morgan is heading, though his
SpoilerSithi visit
was kind of a let-down.

(I gave this four and a half stars, TOP PICK for Romantic Times Book Reviews, https://www.rtbookreviews.com/book-review/witchwood-crown)

Devout Williams fans will be thrilled with this return to his spectacular high-fantasy world, which continues to captivate as the preceding trilogy did decades ago, and readers new to Osten Ard will quickly be absorbed by the political intrigue, rich description and complex characterization that makes the author stand out in a sea of writers inspired by his work. The first installment in the new trilogy is a nostalgic glimpse of the past as the horrors of the future awaken, with new threats to challenge the present readers and newcomers alike.

Thirty years after the defeat of the Storm King, High King Simon and High Queen Miriamele of Osten Ard mourn the loss of their beloved son while worrying over the immaturity of their grandson, Prince Morgan. King Hugh of Hernystir causes a different concern, as his future wife, Lady Tilleth, is suspected of worshipping an old war goddess in an attempt to raise demons. After a decades-long sleep, a threat to all humanity is rising, and a warning from a stranger leads Simon and Miriamele to prepare to fight.

Great start to the new series. Loved the reunions with some characters.

Ends on a really good cliff hanger but still satisfying spot
