This was a long one. I love you Slaughter but damn do you write hefty books. Nevertheless, I was sucked in from the beginning and the horror of what occurred had me needing to know that justice would be brought. I predicted who was behind it all from about 30% in but I still enjoyed the journey to Trent and Mitchell realising who was behind these cruel, abhorrent acts. Like damn. Slaughter does not hold back.
Also… SARA was back in this one. It made me so happy seeing her and seeing the first glimpse of her and Will’s relationship!

I enjoyed the way that Slaughter made the victims turn out to be absolutely awful people and the moral dilemma that Faith went through towards the end of the book.
I also absolutely loathed Amanda in this one- she was awful to Will and Faith and I was raring to punch her multiple times throughout the course of the investigation.
Now onto book number 4. Damn does this series have a hold on me…..

Just a quick and rough review:

Yay, Sara Linton is back!
Will is brilliant and lovely (except for his one flaw, Angie).
Amanda is amazing! I wonder if she is in the show? I love her character.
Faith is growing on me and I like her dynamic with Will.

The plot was dark as per the usual Slaughter novel. The further development of the characters throughout the crime plot line was well woven and the two complemented one another.

If you did not read the Grant County series first, then this book has HUGE SPOILERS! With that being the case, I do not recommend this as a standalone read.

Dr Sara Linton works on a woman in the Emergency Room at Grady Hospital who was hit by a car after escaping from a brutal attack. Will Trent heads into the woods to investigate and stumbles across a torture chamber in the ground along with signs of another victim who has also escaped. Before long this sadistic killer has taken two more women and time is running out for Will and Faith to put their own problems aside and save them.

“Genesis” is book 3 in the Will Trent Series and it’s another hit for me.

I absolutely love Karin Slaughter’s writing. I’ve gobbled this one up in the space of 24 hours here on my holiday because I just didn’t want to stop reading.

I love how the relationship between Faith and Will is slowly building with each new book and I’m so excited now that Sara Linton has also been thrown into the mix. I’ve read some of the newer ones out of sequence so I have had some spoilers and can’t wait to see how we get to where things are in the ones I’ve previously read.

The case in this one is very sinister and I would say it needs content warnings for eating disorders as there’s a lot of talk around that and around pro-anorexia websites and chat rooms, which could be quite triggering for some people.

Slaughter’s writing is absolute perfection as always, she kept me gripped from the very first page. Her characterisation is great and she gives enough time for some of the secondary characters as well so they all feel like well rounded, realistic characters.

I loved the ending when everything kind of comes together with a fab twist and as the reader we start to realise things pretty much at the same time as the characters, which I really like.

Part of me is kind of glad that I’m late to the party with Will Trent because I’ve got so many books to binge now it should keep me happy for a while!

No complaints from me.
