Aw I loved this!

Reading this was so nostalgic? Reminded me of being a child with no care in the world. Such a fun, silly, easy to follow comic recommended for young and older readers alike :)

My first Calvin and Hobbes book. I remember when my mom and I were walking around the bookstore, and she pointed out the book to me, offering to buy it. I used to pick my own books, but I let her decide for me then. She made a good choice.

More than a decade later after moving to another country, I remembered how fond I was of the book and sad that I no longer had a copy. So I ordered found one on Bookmooch, and mooched all of the other used copies of the Calvin and Hobbes books I could find.

I guess the thing I love about Calvin and Hobbes is the way Bill Watterson never allowed the commercialization of his creation. Just the books. No other merchandize. I feel that this move preserved the purity of the books and in a way, my childhood.

I feel like Calvin and Hobbes is the peak of newspaper cartooning, and the color full page Sunday strips were the peak of Calvin and Hobbes. I have fond memories of reading Calvin and Hobbes and it's always nice to revisit them as an adult with maybe more insight. These days I seem to sympathize more with his poor long suffering parents or maybe Hobbes than Calvin. A great collection of a truly great comic.

I guess I really just like Calvin and Hobbes one page at a time. Reading this in book form eventually becomes tiresome. At least I read this one on the appropriate day. The art is good, the writing is clever. And I almost always like Hobbes. And Susie. It is just that Calvin is such a brat.

My son’s new self-enforced rule: must read the entire Calvin and Hobbes Lazy Sunday Book every Sunday.

The perfect comic for kids and adults, this shaped me into who I am today. So much heart, and clever, intelligent writing while still being appealing to kids. Not to mention awesome facial expressions!
