I had a really hard time with this one. I finished it because I wanted to know what happens, to finish the series, but the short chapters and very quick switching between POV made it hard to keep my focus. It was hard to keep track of timelines, some short chapters would span weeks but it would be way before or after the previous or next chapter... felt like it was hard to follow.

Wow, what a complete 180 from the previous book. We finally see some action, and the pace is more on par with how I like my fantasy books.

I enjoyed this one a lot more, but still found it difficult to connect to the characters. I think that is a result of the last book being so boring and portraying such annoying characters. On its own, the story is good. But it’s hard to enjoy a book when you don’t like the characters.

I’m wrapping up with the the next book in hopes that it redeems the series. If not, I can at least come out saying that it would have been a better TV show or movie series.
