So incredibly helpful as someone living with these disorders and having had relationships fail due to circumstances regarding these disorders. Really felt validated

Not bad, just not what I was looking for? It was very conversational instead of a more formal type of how-to/guide towards whatever

I admit I did not go into this book with the most open mind. But it was genuinely helpful! Multiple times I felt seen.

A great mixture of clear advice and personal stories from an author who’s been there. The chapter about sex was the only one that felt a little too specific to Allison’s life for me to relate to. This book has really made me rethink how I approach dating.

first: i am biased as a many years fan of Allison Raskin, particularly because i think we have frighteningly similar neuroses.
so I inherently really liked this book. I also have OCD with a lot of focus on my relationships with others. this book has a very very niche target area, and it is definitely me. I have major issues with intrusive thoughts, rumination, and unhealthy behaviors in relationships stemming from anxious attachment and mental illness. so i liked this book and found it very helpful! a lot of people may not because it's extremely niche. I'm also a counselor so i of course enjoy reading the thoughts of another OCD-haver who is now becoming a counselor. :)
I also really enjoyed the formatting of this book. Each chapter has a blurb in which allison introduces the experts she consulted for supporting info in each chapter. I appreciated that the bulk of content was findings and thoughts from experts that was then supported by Allison's experiences, as opposed to the advice being primarily from the author like in some similar books. I also liked the bullet points at the end of each chapter! I love a highlight! Love a review!
this book is not for everyone, but if you are in the niche group it targets and seeking guidance on how to be more secure and growth-oriented in love, this is a good book!
